George Hyde possesses 18 years of multi-disciplinary experience in local government law. His experience includes serving multiple local government entities simultaneously as City Attorney, General Counsel, Special Counsel, Water/Wastewater Utilities Counsel, Municipal Court Prosecutor and Special Prosecutor, Economic Development Counsel, Ethics Advisor, Governance Advisor, Special Investigations Counsel and Litigation Counsel (pre-suit, trial and appellate). Mr. Hyde holds a Merit Certification in municipal law by the Texas City Attorneys Association. Mr. Hyde is regularly retained to manage significant contract negotiations, civil service matters, dispute resolution matters and to serve as a subject matter expert. After graduating from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, he began gathering litigation experience, working with trial attorneys in product liability, labor and employment, and insurance defense matters. Mr. Hyde earned his Juris Doctorate cum laude from St. Mary’s University School of Law in December 1998. He is admitted to practice in Texas, the Western, Southern and Northern Federal District Courts, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Hyde is currently noted as legal counsel in forty-seven (47) Westlaw recorded legal decisions by Texas Appellate Courts, Federal Appellate Courts and Federal District Courts. Mr. Hyde is regularly selected to prepare and present articles at continuing legal education and local government education events and serves on the St. Mary’s Law School Alumni Association Board of Directors. Mr. Hyde previously served as a volunteer firefighter from 1983 to 1988 in both Guadalupe and Hays counties and as a Texas Peace Officer in both paid and volunteer capacities from 1989 to 2017.
